How do Skool free trials work?

Answer

A free trial of a paid Skool community is set by the group owner, not by Skool; Skool's help center documents a 7-day trial option for subscription groups. You must have a payment card on your Skool account to subscribe, and Skool's transaction terms state that unless you cancel before the trial ends you will be charged and start an automatically renewing paid subscription. A trial is different from a money-back guarantee: the trial is a Skool billing feature, the guarantee is a promise on the owner's own site.

How a community trial works

  • Who sets it: the group admin, when setting up a subscription group. The documented option is 7 days.
  • Card: Skool requires a card on file to enter any paid transaction with an admin, so a trial needs one too.
  • Conversion: automatic. The first charge lands when the trial period ends unless you have canceled.
  • Canceling: the same routes as any subscription: Settings, Communities, Manage membership; or ask the admin; or email help@skool.com. Skool has no separate member article for canceling a trial, so if you cannot see Manage membership during a trial, use the admin or email route before the end date.
  • Not to be confused with: the 14-day trial of Skool's own Hobby and Pro plans, which is for people creating a group.

Before you start a trial

Write down the end date. Skool's own advice for subscriptions is to cancel at least 24 hours before rebilling; apply the same margin to a trial. And read the group's own site for what happens after the trial, because the Skool listing only shows the price.

If that did not solve it

Skool's transaction terms are the source for how trials convert and the three ways to cancel: Skool transaction terms.
